The General membership meeting for April 25, 2016 was held at Festivities Unlimited in Ottawa, IL beginning at 8:30 am. A short business meeting was followed by Regional Office of Education Superintendent Chris Dvorak's update on requirements for retired teachers to be able to teach up to 100 days per year. After a brief break, storyteller Bill Meyers entertained and delighted us with stories from his earlier days as an educator. Our prime speaker of the day, IRTA President Dave Davidson, provided us with legislative and political perspectives relative to the status of retired educators in Illinois. After this a drawing was held, followed by a delicious lunch.
